UCLG Retreat 2024
Acting for the future of humanity: The power that unites us.
What is the UCLG Retreat?
The UCLG Annual Retreat is a week-long gathering that provides an opportunity for the key nodes of the Organization and partners to define synergies and develop actions in line with the work plans set out by the Governing Bodies.
It offers participants an opportunity to boost the connections among the different parts of the UCLG ecosystem, including the involvement of political leaders and the technical staff, to come together as a network and reflect on our priorities for the rest of the year.
Every experience is unique and the added value is for you to define!
The Retreat has come to be the gathering in which the World Secretariat, the Presidency, partners, the Secretariats of our Sections, Committees and Working groups, civil society, and other partners, gather to launch new ideas and innovate to find inspiring solutions and safeguard the dreams and aspirations of our communities.
Committees and Sections help identify the necessary collaborations among the different parts of the network and strengthen the synergies between the different work plans, aiming to put territorial development at the heart of the international agenda, and providing a local perspective to global challenges.
Partners from the international community can propose joint ventures, brainstorm on how to influence the agendas, and are offered a unique opportunity to fully get to know and engage with the world of local governments.
The spirit of our Retreat in 2024
The UCLG Retreat in 2024 turns itself upside down! The exercise begins with the UCLG Presidency setting the scene for the year, in a plenary session that will debate the trends that we are facing, and contribute to develop our workplan for the year; and will come to an end with the network showcasing its priorities as one.
The Retreat builds on the work done in 2023, and on the unfolding exercise of the Pact for the Future. If the aim in 2023 was to develop the Factory of the Future, 2024 is the space to distribute the shared knowledge and the common agenda developed over the year.
It is time to bring to life and develop the coalitions, and exercises over a week that will make an impact on everyone involved.
When registering to the Retreat, participants were asked to answer the following question: "In ONE word, what interests you most about the Retreat?". Here are your answers:
