Description (English)

  • -
Within the framework of the Presidency Meeting and taking advantage of the presence of political leadership, this session will relate the discussions held during the previous days to the work of the World Organization. It will connect the dots between the international context and the mandate and work of UCLG. The Organization has made strong strides in recent years, enhancing its relevance as a political actor and voice of local and regional governments. It has expanded its capacity as a representative body and political actor. Given the current context, it is time to ask ourselves how UCLG can remain a space of convergence without deluding values. Do we need to give priority to the convening role of the Organization before the capacity to foster renewed policies? The session should allow UCLG political leaders to provide their vision on the priorities for UCLG. Where do we need to invest the political capital of the Organization at the wake of the UCLG Congress? How do we work with non-state actors?
